HBAF Collage

The Harambee Ujima Black Arts and Culture Association was formed in 2001 to preserve the legacy of the 1967 Harambee Black Arts Festival that was hosted in Homewood for the purpose of creating community oneness and raise the consciousness of black art and culture. Including me, the Harambee Ujima association is made up of an all-volunteer board whose mission is to create an economic base for arts and culture while expanding the diversity of the Pittsburgh region honoring the spirit, integrity, and unity of all people.

The Harambee Black Arts Festival 50th Anniversary Celebration event will be held on August 4th, 5th, and 6th, in the heart of Homewood this summer hosted by the Harambee Ujima Black Arts and Culture Association. This will be a celebration of the legacy of Harambee and its history of promoting pride and unity throughout the black diaspora in the Pittsburgh region and beyond.
